Hi! I have a D-350 that will not read a disc when running off the DC 9V in ("no disc" on display), but will play when 3V is supplied to the battery terminals. However, when running off the battery, it will randomly turn off and display "0".

I have replaced the spindle motor and the electrolytic capacitors.

Could you help me with these problems?
I get 3.5V and 5V at the test points, but checking the regulator Q401 shows 5.8V instead of 3.9V at the collector.

Thanks

Randomly powers off might be door switch. You can replace it and try again. If you use external power adapter, the voltage on Q401 might be higher. if you can get 3.3V and 5V, it means your power adapter circuit is normal. Go head to test what happens when you hit play?? LCD displays? Laser initialization? Focusing right? Beam emitting?
