Philips 6801 can't switch to the next song

Hello Kaosun

I have a philips 6801 CD player, everything is OK when i start to play from the start, but if I want to switch to the next song, the laser can't read the song. can you please tell me how to check, thank you.

Since when did you own the CD Player ?

This was  your first Test ?

Have  you ever opened a similar device ?

my Tip
There is a little Motor it drives with a Gear Set the "Sled Mechanism"  ( moves the Laser above the CD )
In old CD Player this "stuck" old Grease/Oil  or at a Gearwheel a Tooth is brocken  ...

Open it ... carefull ... make  some Pictures during your work (helps  a lot  !) and look  ...

Pls open the player and check the gear on the laser assembly. It's very common to see it's broken. You can easily find the replacement gear online.

thank you so much, I am so happy to get your answer.  I have a doubt, why if I don't switch to the next song, the CD can play all the songs to the end, if the gear is broken, the player should stop when the gear rotate to the broken tooth. hope for your answer again, thank you.

Once you open the player, I almost guarantee that you will see something like this:

Plastic has turned to goo, when slowly pushing laser across the sled during play it still works. With Fast Forward it just slips.
Open the bottom plate, as Kaosun suggested! Right now it is a guessing game
